Accessibility Statement

Elite Health Care Southwest Florida is committed to ensuring that our website, elitehealthswfl.org, is accessible to all users, including people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

Our Conformance Goal

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Measures Taken

Elite Health Care Southwest Florida engaged Brian Joseph Studios to conduct a comprehensive accessibility audit and remediation of this website. The project was completed in April 2026 and included the following:

  • Automated scanning using Google Lighthouse, WAVE, and axe DevTools
  • Manual testing using ANDI for heading structure and landmark regions
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing across all page templates
  • Screen reader spot-checking using NVDA and VoiceOver
  • Remediation of all identified failures including color contrast, missing alt text, heading structure, keyboard focus, navigation landmark regions, and ARIA attributes
  • Full header markup rebuilt for keyboard operability, focus management, and screen reader compatibility
  • Accessibility updates to custom PHP shortcodes for provider listings, location listings, news listings, and photo galleries
  • Leadership bio modal dialogs updated for full keyboard and screen reader accessibility
  • Third-party accessibility overlay widget removed and replaced with genuine code-level remediation

Following remediation, this website achieved a Google Lighthouse Accessibility score of 100 out of 100 on both Desktop and Mobile, with no contrast errors detected by WAVE.

Technical Specifications

This website is built on WordPress using the Cornerstone page builder with a custom theme. Accessibility relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript
  • WAI-ARIA
  • PHP (WordPress)

Known Limitations

This website uses Cornerstone, a legacy page builder platform. While all known accessibility issues have been addressed, we recommend that content editors observe the following when adding new content:

  • Images: Always populate the alt text field when adding new images through the page builder. Leave the field blank only for purely decorative images.
  • Headings: Maintain the heading hierarchy when adding new sections — do not skip heading levels (e.g., do not jump from H2 directly to H4).
  • Links: Use descriptive link text that makes sense out of context. Avoid "click here" or "read more" without additional context.

If you encounter any accessibility barrier on this website, please contact us using the information below and we will address it promptly.
